What happened
Our first sailing project began with a decision we would make differently today: we bought the boat in Ireland without viewing it. What was meant to begin a new life became an emergency at sea. We issued a mayday call and lost the boat.
This is not a part of our story that we hide. The financial damage of around €35,000 hit us hard, as did the realisation that a big dream also demands responsibility, preparation and an understanding of limits.
Our own perspective
We do not claim that we got everything right. Tatventure should also show how poor decisions happen and what must be learned from them. Entertainment is never a replacement for expertise or safety decisions.
Our videos document the detailed chronology: what we knew, what we underestimated and how the situation developed. This page summarises our view without minimising the failure.
Why we started again
Giving up would not have undone the damage. We chose a slower restart with a Jeanneau Attalia 32, a refit ashore and open documentation of the work. Trying again is not a claim that we already know everything; it is a commitment to keep learning.
